WRITER PROFILE
It’s always great to get together with a large group of writers and investors and keep up to date on what’s new, the screenplay contest, any recent deals, new dealmaker contacts, agents or managers that are looking and simply encouraging everyone to keep going after every dream in this difficult industry. For the hard working writer we want to do as much as we can to continue the exposure and word of mouth in the investment circles of the industry. Another way we do this is with writer interviews that we send far and wide and showcase at all possible meetings and markets.
We want to encourage your writing spirit, motivate you and again give you the accolades you so deserve.
INKED IN BLOOD

What motivated you to become a writer?
I started out in art school – writing and drawing my own comic books, then moved to Los Angeles with a band I played drums in. I wrote a lot of song lyrics, but never really showed anyone. After getting signed and then losing our deal, I was sick of being broke. Through a friend I got a job in the film industry and, not long after that, I found myself working on a David Milch show. Watching his passion, brilliance, storytelling and amazing characters, I was inspired to write. I wrote my first screenplay while working on that show.
Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?
Almost all my ideas spring from character first. I’m drawn to unique, deeply flawed or broken characters. I need to be able to visualize my hero and his world-almost feel it, before I begin to build a story and world around them.
Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?
I always try to keep that in mind while writing, although I feel it’s important to stay true to your own voice. My style of writing leans more towards the independent world, or smaller budget films, but you still have to create something that producers feel they can market and sell.
What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate? Please include script title in reply.
My project is a horror feature called INKED IN BLOOD. It’s the story of a tortured soul who returns to the town he escaped from as a child to exact his revenge on all those who wronged him, and avenge his mother’s suffering at the hands of the one man he fears the most. His father.
My dream would be to sell the script and direct it – or at least retain some creative control.
How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?
It’s been really good. Inked In Blood has won several screenwriting competitions including the Table Read-Park City, WildSound Festival, Festival of Horror, Depth of Field and the Pitch Now Contest. It has also placed in the Finals of the iHorror, the Inroads Screenwriting Fellowship, Underground Indie Film Festival, Widescreen Festival and Horror House Festival.
Inked in Blood is part of the ISA Development Slate, and I was interviewed on the Script Shop Show Podcast in 2019.
If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects what would you like them to know about you and this project?
Inked has a unique cast of characters with their own voice. The hero is tattooed, and those tattoos connect visually to what’s happening in the story, adding another element to the journey. It also lends itself to a sequel.
