What motivated you to become a writer?
To write about injustice in society.
Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?
The things that keep me awake at night.
Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?
Yes, I write with production values in mind and often trim set ups in scenes knowing that a line producer has to make this work on a budget.
What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate?
My dream for Clubland is to make a feature that will stand the test of time and go on to become a three part movie series with a spin off TV show. The music genre of the Acid House scene is still relevant with millions of fans worldwide and a compilation album released alongside the film would generate sales.
How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?
Entering contests with Clubland has given me the opportunity to improve many aspects of my writing, improving the cinematic experience of each and every scene.
If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects what would you like them to know about you and this project?
They say write about what you know and I know this world, having spent seven years in Clubland. The story world hasn’t ever been led by a person of colour and this character and feature has the potential to become a franchise.
