Writers Interviews, Catherine Kreslin

WRITER PROFILE

It’s always great to get together with a large group of writers and investors and keep up to date on what’s new, the screenplay contest, any recent deals, new dealmaker contacts, agents or managers that are looking and simply encouraging everyone to keep going after every dream in this difficult industry. For the hard working writer we want to do as much as we can to continue the exposure and word of mouth in the investment circles of the industry. Another way we do this is with writer interviews that we send far and wide and showcase at all possible meetings and markets.

We want to encourage your writing spirit, motivate you and again give you the accolades you so deserve.

Swamp

Written by Catherine Kreslin

What motivated you to become a writer?

I wanted to become a writer because I am very creative with storytelling and like displaying my God-given talents to the world through my writing/stories. I also want to make a decent profit from writing stories.

Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?

My creativity comes from myself. My own way of thinking/my heart and imagination. I also get inspired by others’ stories and use them to help me come up with small portions of some of my ideas.

Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?

I am very aware that there are many aspects to film creation such as the actors who have their own way of interpreting the screenplay, the directors who decide how to process the story, and many other things that pertain to there being many different variables needing to work together to make the story work other than the screenplay or story idea themselves. I don’t let these variables interfere with how I create my story; however, I let them guide me in that I am aware that the screenplay/story idea I have created isn’t the final product, unlike a book. And so that being stated, I have less pressure knowing that if I make a mistake, it can be corrected by the actors on screen.

What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate?

My dream for my project, “Swamp”, is to have my story idea be made into a screenplay and produced or optioned by a production company or a studio. I believe my story could make over a hundred-million-dollars in theaters if executed properly, and my goal is to have my project be a huge-hit domestically so much that it can go global.

How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?

This is the first screenwriting contest for this project.

If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects what would you like them to know about you and this project?

I would like them to know that I am willing to throw out any effort to make my story a success. I’m willing to do anything to succeed at making profit for my project “Swamp” and would love to make millions of dollars for this project.

Do you have any website links for your writing, credits, background, etc. that you would like to share?
