WRITER PROFILE

It’s always great to get together with a large group of writers and investors and keep up to date on what’s new, the screenplay contest, any recent deals, new dealmaker contacts, agents or managers that are looking and simply encouraging everyone to keep going after every dream in this difficult industry. For the hard working writer we want to do as much as we can to continue the exposure and word of mouth in the investment circles of the industry. Another way we do this is with writer interviews that we send far and wide and showcase at all possible meetings and markets.

We want to encourage your writing spirit, motivate you and again give you the accolades you so deserve.

HOMELESS HOUNDICAPS

What motivated you to become a writer?

Mark-Curtis Dunn:  As early as the seventh grade, I wrote a one act play performed by my schoolmates. In high school, I was an actor. In college I went on to study literature, helped build sets in the drama department, and earned degrees.

Pamela C. Royal: Originally I was a country songwriter with ideas for original songs, some of which are now placed into film/TV and one on DVD starring Corey Feldman.  So writing this Script, (and the book) came very easy for me.  I have always loved dogs and a friend of mine takes in dogs with handicaps, thus my idea sprang into life.

Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?

Mark-Curtis Dunn: Sometimes it’s an ambience from a place I go. Sometimes it’s a dream I had when asleep. Other times, it’s meeting unusual or extraordinary people. Or it could be some event that is not out of everyday life. It could be my own drive to create something that hasn’t been done.

Pamela C. Royal: Even as a young child, I have always had a vivid imagination.  At about age 10, I had written a few songs and a few poems.  So once I retired, it was the opportune time for me to fill my days with writing  a book and scripts.

Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?

Mark-Curtis Dunn: Not necessarily. I have a pile of scripts that have won contest prizes without worrying about a budget or a package.

Pamela C. Royal: The fact that financing and budgeting will need to come into play does not deter me from pitching this script.  Once we locate an Executive producer, they should take care of all those things, if they really believe in our concept for HOMELESS HOUNDICAPS.

What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate? Please include script title in reply.

Mark-Curtis Dunn: “HOMELESS HOUNDICAPS” could be a major studio release and a franchise. We have three sequels in the works already. There could be merchandise spinoffs to name but a few.

Pamela C. Royal: My dream for this feature Animation is to see it successfully in theaters on the big screen, or even as a TV series.  Other revenue could be attained by the making of stuffed animals designed from the animals in my story.  Very comical ones indeed.  The idea of HOMELESS HOUNDICAPS came very easy to me. If I can locate a Traditional Book publisher (to publish my book) as well as a feature Animation company to complete this project I have those two objectives on my mind for H.H.

How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?

Mark-Curtis Dunn: With this screenplay edition, it’s been favorable. Producer interest is there. We have Infinity Eight Productions, an animation company, ready to go to work when funding is available.

Pamela C. Royal: Well, we were extremely excited to be #74 on your Hot 100 List of 2019.  That was very uplifting, and we have generated a lot of interest, if only the financing was available.

If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects what would you like them to know about you and this project?

Mark-Curtis Dunn: A poster and a book. Pamela can talk about the book, since she authored “HOMELESS HOUNDICAPS” and I adapted it for the screen. Our manager, Andi Frazin, believes strongly in the project and is shopping it around to investors.

Pamela C. Royal: I would like investors to know that I have not only written the middle grade children’s book, but also co-written the feature Script with my writing partner, Mark C Dunn.  From the cover for my book, that could be used for the poster for the movie.  Also, I would let these investors know, we have three more scripts to follow, as feature productions, OR, they could be broken down into TV series for half hour segments.  (A Christmas one; a trip to DIZZY YAND; and a Haunted House one)  That we have something very unique to offer as there has never been an animation about dogs with Handicaps before, and it has a lot of comedy and drama as well.

Do you have any website links for your writing, credits, background, etc that you would like to share?
