Writers Interviews, Screenwriter Suzanne Lutas

WRITER PROFILE

It’s always great to get together with a large group of writers and investors and keep up to date on what’s new, the screenplay contest, any recent deals, new dealmaker contacts, agents or managers that are looking and simply encouraging everyone to keep going after every dream in this difficult industry. For the hard working writer we want to do as much as we can to continue the exposure and word of mouth in the investment circles of the industry. Another way we do this is with writer interviews that we send far and wide and showcase at all possible meetings and markets.

We want to encourage your writing spirit, motivate you and again give you the accolades you so deserve.

THE MAN WITH A GLOVE

What motivated you to become a writer?

I had no TV or toys at an early age. So, I handcrafted my 2D cardboard dolls and designed clipping dresses for them. But I was fortunate that my next-door neighbor shared with me his comic books. Then, with our first TV set at home, a whole new world opened in front of me. And, when I had a crush for a Scottish actor, at ten, I promised to myself I’d go and talk to him, although I didn’t speak a word of English. Hence, handcrafting, reading, and watching TV nurtured the vivid imagination and endless dreams of the little girl I was. And, naturally shaped the English teacher I became and the writer I am today.

Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?

Definitely from an inquisitive mind and personal experience mixed with an effective dose of imagination.

Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?

My first project creations didn’t take those factors into account. Today, I’m much more aware about their importance and write accordingly.

What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate? Please include script title in reply.

THE MAN WITH A GLOVE ‘s release in Theaters would be a dream come true. Now specialty channels, digital cinemas and legal streaming platforms may also generate substantial additional value-added revenue streams.

Fans might queue up at the Louvre Museum to admire the painting, then buy THE MAN WITH A GLOVE T-shirt or film poster.

How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?

The Man with a Glove ranked Quarter-finalist in 2018 Screencraft Horror Contest.  Was Finalist of 2019 Pitch Now Screenplay Competition in the Thriller/Horror category. And, semi-finalist in 2020 Miami Screenplay contest. It is still in the running for Page Awards and TSL contests and has nonetheless been given an excellent coverage by the latter.

If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects what would you like them to know about you and this project?

As a former Art teacher, I have always been fascinated by the 1523 portrait by Titian ‘The Man with a Glove’ which was primarily commissioned by an Italian wealthy family, then owned by European Kings, and now sits in the Louvre Museum.  However, the sitter’s identity remains a mystery! Why did a complete stranger generate the kings’ interest, then?  That particular conundrum triggered my imagination and gave birth to this supernatural thriller feature of the same name. Think “The Beauty and the Beast” meets “Dorian Gray”.

Logline: When a gifted art intern is held captive, she must restore a Renaissance era painting believed to contain the secret to the Fountain of Youth… And, save her abductor’s son.
