WRITER PROFILE
It’s always great to get together with a large group of writers and investors and keep up to date on what’s new, the screenplay contest, any recent deals, new dealmaker contacts, agents or managers that are looking and simply encouraging everyone to keep going after every dream in this difficult industry. For the hard working writer we want to do as much as we can to continue the exposure and word of mouth in the investment circles of the industry. Another way we do this is with writer interviews that we send far and wide and showcase at all possible meetings and markets.
We want to encourage your writing spirit, motivate you and again give you the accolades you so deserve.

What motivated you to become a writer?
As a fledgling director, we had to write anything we would direct ourselves. I took a screenwriting class at NYU undergrad with Charles Purpura and I discovered I owned a knack for it. Then I became very interested. My writing really became qualified after attending the UCLA Professional Program, three years later.
Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?
I never sit in front of a blank page before mulling over the journey of the protagonist. My best writing problem solving comes when I am fly-fishing and I work out the issues in my head.

Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?
I concentrate on characters and story. Sometimes I limit the scope so that the budget does not have to be huge. Budgets change with every different group so I put the time into developing strong characters and a tight narrative.
What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate? Please include script title in reply.
Maw Maw’s Goo is a project I am compelled to direct with an A-list Actor in the role of Beau for a week’s worth of work. This would be enough to satisfy all my dreams for this project.
The ancillary revenue is a Netflix series based in the Motion Picture. I have written a show Bible for that. The soundtrack of New Orleans Musicians is another ancillary market.
How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?
I have placed in several screenplay contests, the most prominent is the UCLA screenwriting contest where I was an honorable mention.
If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects what would you like them to know about you and this project?
I have written a lot of material and directed shorts completed in 16mm film. This is the beginning of a relationship to produce a body of work. I would also point out the lucrative 40% tax credits for film production in Louisiana. I have designed a business plan that gives the investor partners favorable first positions in ROI and profit sharing.
