Writers Interviews, Edward Mumford

WRITER PROFILE

It’s always great to get together with a large group of writers and investors and keep up to date on what’s new, the screenplay contest, any recent deals, new dealmaker contacts, agents or managers that are looking and simply encouraging everyone to keep going after every dream in this difficult industry. For the hard working writer we want to do as much as we can to continue the exposure and word of mouth in the investment circles of the industry. Another way we do this is with writer interviews that we send far and wide and showcase at all possible meetings and markets.

We want to encourage your writing spirit, motivate you and again give you the accolades you so deserve.

Sin Temple

What motivated you to become a writer?
I am passionate about writing as it allows me to engage in the creative process. I specialize in developing projects that have a significant impact on individuals’ daily lives. Whether it involves inspiring individuals to pursue their aspirations or providing them with entertaining content that brings laughter and joy, my work aims to enhance their overall well-being. I aspire to witness the realization of my idea as a fully-fledged film or franchise in the future. I have consistently perceived my personal experiences as resembling a cinematic narrative, replete with a multitude of triumphs and setbacks, as well as unexpected challenges and obstacles. Furthermore, I sincerely cannot envision myself pursuing any other occupation. Engaging in this pursuit is not merely a pastime or a fervor, but rather a calling that I firmly believe aligns with my purpose in life.

Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?
I believe that my creativity is influenced by my mother. During my childhood, there was a closet adjacent to my bedroom that contained a substantial collection of VHS movies. There was a collection of materials intended for adults displayed on one side of the wall, while the other side featured a section specifically curated for children. I have had the opportunity to view numerous films throughout my formative years. I consistently harbored a multitude of imaginative concepts for potential cinematic endeavors, eagerly yearning for their realization by capable individuals. As I have matured and observed the passage of time, I have come to the realization that the responsibility of creating the desired outcome lies with me.

Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?
That thought frequently occupies my mind. One of the primary considerations that comes to mind is the project’s budget. The importance of time management and the significance of assembling a highly capable team. Throughout the course of my pursuit of a master’s degree in economics with a specialization in project management, I have acquired proficiency in the following tools.

What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate?
My aspiration for my project, Sin Temple, is to establish it as a highly successful box office Mystery Thriller, aiming to achieve a substantial revenue of approximately 500 million.

How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?
I have only submitted my screenplay to a limited number of festivals, with the Boston Screenplay Awards being one of them. It is worth noting that Sin Temple achieved the status of being a quarter finalist in this particular competition. Upon receiving script coverage, I discovered that further improvements were required for my script. Consequently, I diligently dedicated time each day to refine it, ultimately completing the draft in May.

If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects, what would you like them to know about you and this project?
Sin Temple is a unique and innovative project/idea. This innovative concept has not been previously explored and has the potential to yield significant results.

It is important to note that the investors are not solely investing in my project, but rather in my overall potential and capabilities. Three years ago, I possessed limited knowledge in the field of writing and was solely responsible for acquiring a comprehensive understanding through self-directed learning. I consider myself to be an individual who possesses exceptional work ethic, demonstrating unwavering dedication and humility. I am pleased to announce that I have completed three feature scripts that are now available for public consumption. I am currently awaiting an opportunity where an individual with the appropriate belief in my abilities will provide me with a chance to showcase my potential.
