What motivated you to become a writer?
My disability. At first, creating and imagining characters, worlds, adventures, was a way to move beyond the restrictions of my body. Over the years, writing has become a career as well, but it still remains my way of coping with reality.
Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?
My stories come from everywhere: Movies and TV shows I watch; my travels; paintings and sculptures I admire in museums; songs I can’t stop listening to.
Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?
When I start a new project, I write for an audience of one; I write the stories and the characters that would make me leave the house and go to a cinema.
What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate?
My dream for Life is dark (and full of rainbows) is to have it produced, directed, completed, and finally distributed in cinemas all over the world. It’s definitely an artsy kind of movie, which I believe would do well in film festivals and would get a bright spotlight on the vision and collaboration of its crew.
How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?
So far so good!
If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects what would you like them to know about you and this project?
I would like for them to know that we came a long way and that we never gave up, and we’ll never give up.
Do you have any website links for your writing, credits, background, etc that you would like to share.
