WRITER PROFILE

It’s always great to get together with a large group of writers and investors and keep up to date on what’s new, the screenplay contest, any recent deals, new dealmaker contacts, agents or managers that are looking and simply encouraging everyone to keep going after every dream in this difficult industry. For the hard working writer we want to do as much as we can to continue the exposure and word of mouth in the investment circles of the industry. Another way we do this is with writer interviews that we send far and wide and showcase at all possible meetings and markets.

We want to encourage your writing spirit, motivate you and again give you the accolades you so deserve.

ELIZABETH’S STORM

What motivated you to become a writer?

One of my most fond memories of 4th grade was a story writing assignment. I carried my spiral notebook around with me all week and created my first story. About twenty years ago, my husband became a screenwriter and that inspired me to get in on the challenge and share my stories with the world.

Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?

My creativity comes from God as he gives me thoughts in my daily life as He speaks to my heart or the words spoken through conversations with others might inspire an idea.

Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?

I realize there are many things that must come together to get the project to the screen, but I concentrate on my task of the creation of the story to get it the best I can in order for it to be ready for the next step in the process.

What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate? Please include script title in reply.

My dream is for the heartfelt screenplay “ELIZABETH’S STORM” to be shared to viewers and not only allow them to see the magnificence of the free-roaming herd of Colonial Spanish American Mustangs but also learn a little bit of their 200 year history through this family-friendly drama.
When I google “Pryor Mountain Mustangs,” I can’t help but see the long-term, wide interest in this beautiful, unique, animal. I imagine that “Elizabeth’s Storm” will bring about t-shirts, coffee mugs, toy figurines, memo pads, etc. in support of the wild mustangs.

Logline: A troubled city girl, on a forced family vacation to the mountains of Montana, finds love from a horse and a cowboy as she risks her life to ensure the abusive rancher’s plot is foiled in order to save the rare, free-roaming palomino Spanish Mustang’s freedom and heritage.

How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?

“ELIZABETH’S STORM” has placed as Quarter Finalist in four screenwriting contests and has been nominated for “BEST ROLE FOR A LEADING WOMAN.” I have written a sequel entitled “ELIZABETH’S STORM: TAMING THE WILD” which has received a nomination for “BEST ENSEMBLE CAST.”

If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects what would you like them to know about you and this project?

I come from a small town and realize that in the competitive world of getting scripts produced, it is like the odds of “finding a needle in a haystack.” I believe with “ELIZABETH’S STORM,” I found that needle! As the Pryor Mountains free-roaming Colonial Spanish American Mustang herd is a part of history, and once stood on the line of extinction, their story should be kept alive and shared for generations to enjoy. The Spanish Mustangs cannot be replaced. If destroyed, their heritage will be lost forever.

In doing my part in keeping the free-roaming herd’s history alive and bringing its presence to others, I created the fictional story inspired by the government-owned, free-roaming Colonial Spanish American Mustang herd in the Pryor Mountains and their adoption process. “Elizabeth’s Storm” and its sequel were written for families to enjoy together and be an inspiration to others. Who doesn’t love a horse story?
