Writers Interviews, Screenwriter Marin Mandir

WRITER PROFILE

It’s always great to get together with a large group of writers and investors and keep up to date on what’s new, the screenplay contest, any recent deals, new dealmaker contacts, agents or managers that are looking and simply encouraging everyone to keep going after every dream in this difficult industry. For the hard working writer we want to do as much as we can to continue the exposure and word of mouth in the investment circles of the industry. Another way we do this is with writer interviews that we send far and wide and showcase at all possible meetings and markets.

We want to encourage your writing spirit, motivate you and again give you the accolades you so deserve.

“Antarctica”

What motivated you to become a writer?

I simply love original, creative stories. And I had the urge to just start writing them down before I forget them.

Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?

I still have a half-empty notebook from my high school, and I write down several scenes that pop into my head. After I have at least a dozen good ones, I start writing a script based on this.

Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen and does that come into your project creation?

Sometimes yes. I need to be realistic, not try to imagine “impossible” ideals and try to come up with a compromise if it is asked from me. But if I have a really great sequence, I will try to stand my ground on it.

What is your dream for this project and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate? Please include script title in reply.

I will arbitrarily include my script “Antarctica”. Every new author needs to establish his or her own new audience – action movies are aimed for thrill-seeking audiences, independent movies for the audiences seeking honest little stories about life and humanity. It could generate interesting new hair dues based on the heroine; T-shirts; comic-con meetings; alternate geography maps; tea cups; podcasts; glossary and an encyclopedia elaborating on the fictional history timeline.

How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?

If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects what would you like them to know about you and this project?

Try to risk and invest into something new, maybe it works. 🙂 Dream big. New things and styles in movies need to happen every once in a while or they will become stale, predictable and routine. Try out everything so that one day you won’t regret anything because you tried out every option.

Do you have any website links for your writing, credits, background, etc that you would like to share?

I have an IMDb link. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4750851/

I am also on Screenplaygo: https://screenplaygo.com/profiles/marin-mandir and ISA Network https://www.networkisa.org/
